The entry model to Sunreef’s range of eco-powered superyachts, the Sunreef Explorer 40m is a purpose-built expedition catamaran developed entirely by Sunreef Yachts’ in-house naval architects, engineers, and design team. Measuring 40.00 metres in length, with a beam of 11.20 metres and a draught of approximately 2.40 metres, she offers substantial internal volume and shallow-water capabilities.
A self-sufficient, long-range explorer, eco-powered catamaran, the Sunreef Explorer 40m is made from aluminium and advanced composite with industry-first composite-integrated solar panels. Her exterior design includes bold, vertical glazing and expansive deck surfaces carefully engineered to maximise photovoltaic output, with solar panels integrated across the hull sides, superstructure, and bimini. The full-beam aft cockpit connects directly to a walkaround ocean lounge, creating a sheltered relaxation area with immediate access to the open waters. Internally, her layout is highly customisable, allowing for configurations that may include a private cinema, gym, spa, or game room. A key feature of the Sunreef Explorer 40m is the owner’s deck, with terrace access. The main deck features an open-plan living and dining area, with a large main deck aft complete with an infinity pool, sit-down bar, and alfresco dining. The Sunreef Explorer 40m can accommodate up to ten guests across five staterooms, including two VIP ensuite staterooms and two double ensuite staterooms forward on the main deck. The lower deck offers significant storage capacity for tenders and a comprehensive selection of water toys, next to the gallery and crew accommodation for a crew of seven. Powered by twin 540 kW electric main engines supported by battery banks and optional range extenders, the Sunreef Explorer 40m has a top speed of approximately 14 knots and cruises efficiently at around 10 to 12 knots.
