Simply Custom is a custom yacht building platform introduced by Dutch shipyard Oceanco in 2023, developed to shorten and streamline the engineering phase of a full custom build without impacting the owner’s design freedom.
Leveraging Oceanco’s pre-engineered technical foundation, namely hull form, propulsion, and energy architecture, created in collaboration with Lateral Naval Architects and refined with MARIN, this is open for any designer to work with. Available from approximately 80 metres in length and 2,500 to 2,700GT, each superyacht is different. The first hull, Project Y729, is a clear example of the principle. She features an exterior design by Espen Øino International, interiors by Zuretti Design, with a 13.8-metre beam and 2,600GT of internal volume within a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Set for delivery in 2027, the platform focuses on offering a stable foundation for owners to define. The hull form is the product of over a decade of hydrodynamic work between Oceanco, Lateral and MARIN, and stabilisation is engineered around Quantum systems to prioritise seakeeping and suppress noise and vibration. Layouts, deck arrangements and amenities remain entirely open, with optional watersports and diving, entertainment and smart-eco packages available to be tailored to how the superyacht will be used. Project Y729 accommodates up to 14 guests with a crew of 28. Power comes from an all-electric propulsion system, delivering a top speed of 16.5 knots and a cruising speed of 14 to 15 knots.
