Founded in Istanbul in 1964 by Ramazan Mengi, the shipyard first began building traditional wooden fishing boats and gulets up to 20 metres in length, before moving its workshop to Tuzla in 1983. In 1986, the shipyard began working on larger yachts, constructing ketches, motor yachts and trawlers, and just three years later they began building superyachts bigger than 30 metres in length. Over the years, Mengi Yay Yachts has continued to expand its build capacity, building its first steel superyacht in 2006 before delivering the 40-metre trawler yacht Serenity II in 2010, which features an exterior design by Endaze Design. Capable of constructing new builds up to 130 metres in length, Mengi Yay Yachts operates one of the largest yacht shipyards in Turkey. In 2018, Mengi Yay Yachts introduced its first semi-custom series, the Virtus line, which includes five models measuring 39 and 52 metres in length. Featuring a design by Paolo Dose from Italian studio VYD Studio, the Virtus models offer a steel displacement hull and aluminum superstructure. In addition, Mengi Yay Yachts also has a second line of semi-custom yachts, the NL 52 Plus, a 52.2-metre model that features a design by Dan Lenard and Carlo Nuvolari from Nuvolari Lenard. Some of the most notable Mengi Yay Yachts delivered to date include the 45m Aquaruis, the 34.3m Cabana and the 47.5m Serenissima II.
