ICON Yachts is a Dutch shipyard that specialises in the construction of semi-custom and custom explorer yachts and purpose vessels, in addition to conversions and refits.
Based in Harlingen, the Netherlands, ICON Yachts delivers superyachts between 40 and 84 metres in length, with a solid reputation for its strong, long-range technical platforms designed with remote, autonomous cruising in mind. Founded in 2005 by investors Ton van Dam and Alex Shnaider, the shipyard has successfully positioned itself as one of the leading builders and refitters for expedition and explorer yachts. One of the first Dutch shipyards to receive the ISO 14001 certification, next to its long-held ISO 9001 certification in 2021, today, ICON Yachts has developed its business model around three core pillars: exploration, philanthropy, and sustainability. Incorporating eco-conscious and responsible building practices into the design and construction of its superyachts from its fully equipped, climate-controlled facility by the North Sea, ICON Yachts also caters to scientific and environmental initiatives through the inclusion of onboard laboratories, diving infrastructure, and living quarters for research teams and its partnerships with SeaKeepers and Cookson Adventures. Significant milestones in ICON Yachts’ history include the 2015 conversion of the ice-class 77.4-metre Legend, the launch of the 67.5m Loon and its Mission-M series, a new generation of semi-custom explorer superyachts with an ice-class hull, 7,000 nautical mile range, and a 270-degree bridge. The shipyard’s current offerings include the semi-custom Mission-M series and the 63.9-metre Mission-L concept, next to its custom new builds, refits, and conversions.
