Headquartered in Viareggio, Italy, Azimut Yachts is a heritage shipyard specialising in the construction of composite yachts ranging from 10 to 39 meters in length.
Part of the Azimut | Benetti Group, one of the world’s leading superyacht manufacturers, Azimut Yachts was founded in 1969 by Paolo Vitelli. Initially starting out as a sailing boat charter company, by 1970, Azimut had expanded into construction. Collaborating with Amerglass to launch the AZ 43′ Bali, a mass-produced fiberglass yacht, this model garnered Azimut significant industry attention. In 1985, Azimut acquired the historic Benetti shipyard, extending its production capabilities and cementing its position in the industry.
Today, Azimut Yachts is best known for its innovative designs, technological advancements, and commitment to quality. A pioneering shipyard, Azimut launched several industry firsts, including large frameless windows and sleek, sporty profiles, setting new standards in yacht design. Azimut currently offers a broad range of series, including the Atlantis, featuring sporty open yachts built for speed and agility; the Flybridge, with spacious layouts and elegant designs; and the Grand, Azimut’s flagship series of superyachts. Notable models in Azimut’s global fleet include the Azimut 105′ Failaka, launched in 1982 and the largest fibreglass yacht at the time, the Magellano 66, which offers exceptional range and comfort for extended cruising, and the upcoming 44m Grande, a four-deck superyacht, with the first unit in the series set for delivery in September 2026.
Innovative Heritage: Azimut was among the first shipyards to introduce large frameless windows, enhancing natural light and providing panoramic views, a feature that has become a hallmark of modern yacht design.
Cutting-Edge Materials: The shipyard was among the first to utilise fibreglass for mass production, notably with the AZ 43′ Bali, revolutionising yacht construction.
Sustainability Initiatives: The Seadeck series incorporates hybrid propulsion and more eco-friendly materials, highlighting the yard’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
Legacy & Forward Thinking: From its origins as a boat chartering service, Azimut’s strategic acquisition of Benetti and its continuous innovation, the shipyard has always struck a balance between tradition and an eye toward future growth.
