SOLACE WINS the World Superyacht Award for best Refitted Yacht
The 57-metre Feadship yacht Solace has claimed top honours in the refitted category at the World Superyacht Awards 2026, marking a remarkable return to form for the iconic vessel originally launched in 2005 as Twizzle. Two decades after winning a World Superyacht Award in her original form, the yacht has once again impressed judges – this time following an extensive refit by Pendennis Shipyard.
The project, led in collaboration with Vickers Studio, focused on restoring the yacht’s original design integrity rather than reinventing it. John Vickers, who was involved in the yacht’s initial build, returned to refine the interiors, enhancing the sense of understated elegance while maintaining the classic character that defined her early years.
“She’s 20 years old, but you wouldn’t know it,” noted one judge. “They’ve put it back as she was delivered, and it’s lovely.”
Originally planned as a five-month refit, the project expanded into a 12-month undertaking as technical challenges emerged. This allowed for a comprehensive overhaul, including upgrades for extended travel in remote and high-latitude regions. The yacht is now equipped for a four-year circumnavigation, with improved safety systems, modern technologies, and the addition of a double supernumerary cabin for specialist crew.
Exterior works included a full repaint, returning Solace to her original Feadship styling, subtly refined with updated colour tones. The aft section was also reconfigured, incorporating a sauna and optimising the swim platform and lazarette.
“What emerged is a yacht that retained her original confidence and intention, subtly refined with updated colour tones and restored to her former glory,” the judges commented. “Solace’s refit serves as a reminder that timeless elegance endures.”
